USD 495 is seeking a Head Football Coach for the 2026–27 school year. This role will lead our high school football program with a strong focus on student development, positive relationships, and program leadership. Teaching opportunities are available for qualified candidates.
About Larned High School and USD 495
Larned High School serves students in grades 9–12 as part of a PK–12 district of about 850 students. We are a small, close-knit district where relationships matter and students are known by name. Athletics play an important role in our school and community, and we believe strong programs are built on trust, teamwork, and pride in representing Larned.
USD 495 is proud of its athletic facilities, including a renovated outdoor athletic complex completed in 2023 with field turf, and a weight room added in 2017 that continues to be an important part of our athletic programs. Larned High School competes in the Central Kansas League and values athletics as an extension of the school experience.
Coaching Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the high school football program

Build a positive, student-centered team culture

Teach and model sportsmanship, accountability, and respect

Build strong relationships with student-athletes and their families

Communicate clearly and professionally with athletes, parents, and staff

Supervise assistant coaches and support their growth

Support academic success and eligibility of student-athletes
Teaching Opportunities
Teaching assignments are available based on licensure and district needs. USD 495 values coaches who are educators first and who build meaningful connections with students throughout the school day.
Qualifications

High school or collegiate coaching experience preferred
